Day 1

 What a day we have had!! 

We started out in the wilderness, having just left Jerusalem. The youth were put into families and then had some get to know you activities. After an hour or so Lehi and his family showed up to tell us their stories. 

The youth have been amazing! We have had a number of stories from 1 Nephi, interspersed with family discussions about the enactments they just saw. We had lunch in the wilderness (coincidently found just after Nephi had broken his bow, made a new one and went to his father to find out where to go to hunt for food) and then had an activity where we had to build bridges to cross the water.  

Tonight we saw an enactment about Lehi's vision and then we all got to follow the iron rod. There were people along the way tempting the youth to let go of the iron rod. After, President Payne spoke to everyone about why we should hold on to the iron rod and how to make sure we always do that. 

It's been a great day. We have had beautiful weather. We couldn't ask for anything better!  It has been a very full day!
